I don't know where they are going, and I don't know where they've been. But I am sure glad that they are stopping in my backyard along the way! They are some of the prettiest birds that are seen in Arkansas. I think this one might be obese. 
Fun facts about indigo buntings:*males are bright blue in mating season, but the females are always brown and can be easily confused with a common sparrow
*only 5.5" tall and weigh about 1/2 an ounce. By comparison, a robin is about 10" tall and 2.7 ounces.
*I am still crossing my fingers to see the indigo bunting's rare relative the painted bunting
