He woke up late Sunday/early Monday with a temp of 101. Lots of coughing, so we went to see his pediatrician on Monday morning. She confirmed it was a virus, prescribed an inhaler for the wheezing in his chest, and sent us home. That night was horrible. He tossed and turned, moaned and groaned, got really and got really sweaty and cold.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all feverish days. He stayed with Colin's mom during the day and with us every night. He kept having moments when the tylenol was working when he would be perky and want to eat, so I kept thinking he was on the mend.
Hank wouldn't drink or pee all day Wednesday , so we took him to Children's Hospital to try to treat the dehydration. They did an IV and a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia. He HATED that IV, and at some point, he wiggled the IV loose and fluid started going into his arm instead of his vein. He was really hurting, and his arm got swollen before we flagged a nurse down to help him. It was a very low moment for all of us.
They took the IV out and left us to try to get him to drink some. By this point, it was after 8pm and he was too tired and just fell asleep. They finally let us go near 11pm because he had gotten 160 out of 215 ccs of fluid. Not all of it, but good enough. He was so tired and fell asleep in the car.

Thursday morning he woke up fever free, chugged a whole cup of juice, and had a nice long pee in the potty. All great signs! I took him for a follow up with his regular doctor at 8 this morning. Both of his ears are now infected, so we are giving him antibiotics now, too.He has been fever free all day, he took a nice long nap, and he has been drinking, which is critical. I am getting my hopes up that this is the end of this virus!

Poor sweet buddy. I HATE illness - why does it have to exist? They're too little! Glad you all are on the mend.
