David Gieringer Obituary

David Charles Gieringer passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Little Rock Hospice Home Care.

He was born August 19, 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Wallace A. and Suzanne C. Gieringer, now of Hot Springs Village.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Arnold A. Gieringer of Farmington, MO, Virginia Rummel Smith of Monterrey, CA, and Harrison H. and Edith Campbell of Dayton, OH.

He grew up in Farmington, MO where he was active in Boy Scouts attaining the rank of Life. A graduate of St. Joseph High School at Farmington he went on to graduate from the University of Arkansas College of Business in 1975.

The highlight of his business career was the foundation, development and successful operation of Telecom Management, the telecommunication consulting firm headquartered in Little Rock for 25 years until his retirement due to illness. The firm served business, institutional and industrial clients in Arkansas and across the nation.

Active in the business community, Dave was a member of the Central Arkansas Executives Association in which he had many close friends that became more like family. He was also a member of Rotary International of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow and was a founding member of the Arkansas Executives Forum of the University of Arkansas.

Dave never met a stranger and cared for everyone. He was very strong in his faith and regularly attended Christ the King Parish where he has served as an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, served as co-chair of RexFest, and served on the Parish Council. He also served on the pastoral council of St. Edwards Church and was a member of the Good Counsel Church Eucharistic adoration group.

His favorite past times were golf and biking. An accomplished golfer, he was a long time member and served on the Board of Directors of the Pleasant Valley Country Club. He was an avid car enthusiast. After prostate cancer he followed a life long passion to build a replica of the ’66 Ford Shelby Cobra. His car won first place in the first car show entered.

Dave was a loving husband and is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cara Beth Verble Gieringer and their loving children Cara Anne of Little Rock, Airman Kimber Leigh of Seymour Johnson AFB at Goldsboro, NC, and Joshua David of Little Rock.

He dearly loved his family and is survived by his parents and his six brothers: Wally Jr. and wife Lou Ann of Little Rock; John and wife Alma of Omaha, NE; Mark and wife

Dana of Fayetteville; Bob and wife Christy of Little Rock; Joe and wife Nancy of Pine Bluff; Jim and wife Sue of Boise, ID; 11 nieces and 6 nephews.

Dave also loved his wife Beth’s family, her parents David and Caralyn Verble of Hot Springs; brother Kelly and wife Joan of Hot Springs; brother Mike of Brentwood, TN; and 3 additional nieces and 1 additional nephew.

Dave was a true gift from God and will be missed very much by family and friends.

Rosary and visitation will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Mass of Christian Burial there at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, with Monsignor Francis Malone as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dave’s name to the Catholic High School Scholarship Fund, 6300 Father Tribou Street, Little Rock, AR 72206.
