way back wednesday

Did you know I used to have my eyebrow pierced? I got it pierced at a tattoo parlor in Fayetteville, AR. The man who pierced it was about 60, wearing biker clothes, and smelled like cigarettes. He pierced it with no problem, but then he couldn't get his stubby little fingers to screw the ball in to close the ring. He kept leaning into my face trying to make it work and finally asked me to give it a try! That was in November of 2000. I guess I had it pierced for almost a year before it became too much trouble. I had gotten a restaurant job at the Purple Cow for the summer of 2001, and they thought that eyebrow rings were inappropriate for a family restaurant. Taking it in and out every day was a real hassle, and I kept losing those tiny little balls that held the ring in. My mom and dad hated it, needless to say.

The picture above was taken by my sister Jill in New York City over Thanksgiving weekend of 2000. We went to the Macy's Day parade, ate Chinese food for Thanksgiving dinner, went to the top of the World Trade Center, and walked our feet off. Jill had won a trip for two to NYC from a radio station, and SHE TOOK ME! That is one of the nicest things you have ever done for me, Jill, so THANK YOU! We had a ball.
