Pujols has these little spots on both sides of his torso that the vet is calling folliculitis. Upon googling folliculitis, I learned that it is a very common dog thing, but that it is usually a symptom of something else going on. My vet says that it is most likely allergies in Pujols's case, which means there is no real (inexpensive) treatment. He does bite at them sometimes to scratch the itchiness. This has been going on since November at least. Any advice?

Dab some "Sulfodene" on them. It's topical first aid type of thing for dogs. It helps Zeus when he gets little bumps on his belly. You can find it in pet isle at Wal-Mart. It comes in a small bottle and it's yellow. Best stuff ever. Since Zeus has allergies we give him Benadryl sometimes based on the advice from our vet. I just cut the pill in half to make it 12.5 mg and hide in the treat. When his allergies flare up he throws up yellow foam and that's usually my sign for Benadryl.
