Good Food

I just finished reading Tender at the Bone by Ruth Reichl. I really enjoy the way she writes. I read Garlic and Sapphires by her for book club earlier this year, so I was super excited when Colin's mom lent me this book. While Garlic and Sapphires is about Reichl's adventures as the food critic for the New York Times, in this book she focuses on how she came to be a food and wine critic. It starts with her childhood and takes her through many restaurants and cities. I recommend it highly.
After reading all of these books about good food, I started thinking about my own food choices. I had been getting pretty lazy about cooking 'real' food (not just frozen pizza, etc.), so this week I started a new project. So far, I cooked this amazing dinner on Monday night. It was broiled salmon with vidalia onion and tomato salsa, couscous with fresh green beans, and steamed spinach. Last night I made spaghetti with salad and green peas. I am working hard to get more fruits and veggies incorporated, and I am hoping that weight loss will be a positive side effect!
