Colin's mom Renae gave me a new recipe this week. It is her tried and true recipe that is sure to make every dog a happy dog. She came up with this concoction after learning some of the grosser things that are routinely included in commercial dog food. She has been feeding her dogs Genie and Cinnamon this oatmeal for a couple of years now, and they are healthy as they can be. Pujols has been eating it for about a month now, and I think it has finally gotten his tummy a little more regular. I am going to attempt this recipe this weekend. I think I might make it in my crockpot on the back deck, so I don't stink up the whole house! I'll let you know how it goes.
Doggie Oatmeal from Renae
1. Use a very large sauce pan (12 qt). Fill pan 2/3 full with water.
2. Add 1 package chicken livers and 1 cup rice. Cook on medium for a long time, til rice is done.
3. Add 1 tbsp. peanut butter, ¼ cup dried milk, 1 tbsp. olive oil, ½ container of unsweetened pumpkin.
4. Bring to a slow boil, add 14 oz. One minute oats.
5. let cook, stirring often, for 5-10 minutes.
6. Remove from heat and add 1 can of drained and rinsed mackerel.
7. Put into containers and freeze.
*The only absolutes in this recipe are the chicken livers (or gizzards), the oatmeal, and the mackerel. The rest of the recipe can be altered.

is your dog making poops in that photo? he looks very cute. i am curious about this recipe. it might help little eddie and his sensitive stomach.
