I was just knocking on wood yesterday while talking about how I had never had poison ivy. Maybe I am not allergic to it or maybe I have just been really lucky. I had been talking about it at work because I have it growing in my backyard in a couple of places. I sprayed some of it with some very toxic looking chemicals, and thought that would work.
Fast forward to last night when I was really on a roll weeding the flower bed. I was trying to get that last little section done before the sun went down completely, but the next thing I knew, I had a handful of poison ivy! OK, not really a handful, mostly just one little sprig of it. I ran inside and washed my hands about ten times and then poured rubbing alcohol over them. As most people know, I am excitable about things like this. How did I manage to get through the evening without completely freaking out? Obviously, I slept with my pink, fleece gloves on. I appear to be rash-free this morning, although my hands are REALLY dry from all of the washing. I'll keep you posted.
